James Gram, a native of Montpelier, VT, has been a student of Richard C. Provost at the Hartt School since 2007. Commencing classical studies under Scott Wolf, an acolyte of the renowned virtuoso Eliot Fisk, in 2006, James was quickly exposed to many of the contemporary masters of the instrument, participating in lessons and master classes with such luminaries as the aforementioned Fisk, Andrew York, Scott Tennant, Christopher Ladd, Oscar Ghiglia, and most recently, Jason Vieaux. At the Hartt School he has been a member of a guitar quartet specializing in works of contemporary classical music as well as a guitar and flute duo focusing on 20th Century chamber works. In addition to his love of the classical guitar, James has broad taste in other musics, having studied jazz guitar for several years.
