Headlining: The Winding Road
Bluegrass

A local bluegrass outfit with Cobblestone Deli's Jaimie Kramer on bass! www.windingroadbluegrass.com/
With two personal friends in this group, perhaps I'm too biased to write commentary...but I'm going to do it anyway: The Winding Road played the Pancake last December as a trio. I was impressed with their chops and stage presence. Since then, they've added Caleb Elder (fiddle player of the Rt 7 Ramblers, Magic City, Hadestown) to their arsenal. For local bluegrass fans, this is an emerging group worthy of your ears and attention!
From the band: The Winding Road represents a deep appreciation and of what it takes to make live music and a love of the sweet sounds of the classic bluegrass instrumentation and harmonies. While The Winding Road is heavily inspired by traditional bluegrass, they are not compelled to adhere to its often rigid boundaries. This sensibility is most evident in the original music that is the primary thrust of their live concerts. Words which would feel right at home in a 1950s beer soaked honkey tonk howl entwine with subtly more sophisticated harmonies and rhythms. Instrumental compositions reminiscent of the newgrass heroes of the 70s and beyond flow out with a pure acoustic sonority. Whether you're an old fan of bluegrass or a newcomer who just loves music, there's no doubt that you'll find something that lights a spark within.
